FLASHES FROM WELLINGTON.
(Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, November 29. Fish and Flies. Interviewed regarding the local movement to have the fish shops closed against the flies, the same as butchers* shops, the Minister of Public Health says it would never do. He was so assured by officers in whom he had the utmost confidence. Fish was entirely different from meat. Fish should be kept moist, and flies would not attack a moist surface. To keep meat moist would injure it as a food , substance. If fish were enclosed it might soon reach a state where the ; odour would be intolerable, it p, oper care were exercised by the shopkeeper there should lie no complaints. Fish j should be watered frequently.
