HEAD-ON CRASH BETWEEN MOTOR AND MOTOR-CYCLE.
HIGH BANK OESCURED VIEW; ONE MAN INJURED.
Three people were involved in a head-on collision between a motor-car and a motor-cycle at the junction of the Long Bay Road and the main Akaroa Road about 5 p.m. on Saturday. The car, which was driven by Mr J. Read, was coming down the Long Bay Road and the motor-cycle, on winch ■Mr Roy Harrington was carrying his brother Stanley as a pillion passenger, was proceeding from Akarpa up the old coast road towards Takamatua. Until the crash occurred, neither party was aware of the others’s proximity as a bank twelve feet high obscured the view at the corner. The motor-car and driver escaped injury, as did the driver of the motor-cycle, but the motor-cycle was damaged beyond repair. Mr Stanley Harrington suffered a bad compound fracture of the right leg. He was taken to the Akarpa Hospital, where .Dr V r addell attended to him and ordered his removal to Christchurch. The injured man was conveyed from Akaroa by ambulance, leaving there at■ mid-day on Sunday. -He was operated on last night, and his leg was set successfully.
