To the cooeeing of students in the galleries, Mr Coates received the degree of Doctor of Laws at Cambridge University. The Public Orator, in the customary Latin speech, referred to the Prime Minister’s boyhood when he drove cattle with the same patience and courage as he later guided the human flock. Sir Ernest and Lady Rutherford entertained the Prime Minister and his party, also thirty New Zealand students.
