LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY HAS HAD A GOOD YEAR.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 27. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited have received a cablegram from their London office intimating that the company will hold their annual meeting in London on December 9. The revenue account shows that after paying taxes, £51,492 3s lOd, writing off premises £IO,OOO making provision for bad and doubtful debts and charging debenture and stock interests, the balance is £135,640 13s sd. The sum of £IO,OOO has been appropriated to the staff benevolent fund, and interim dividends paid on preference and ordinary stock, and the dividends now proposed to be paid will absorb £120,000. After including the amount brought forward from last year, £39,645 12s lOd, there will be £45,256 6s 3d to be carried forward. The dividends proposed are a final dividend on preference stock of 2$ per cent, and on ordinary stock a final dividend of 4 per cent, both less 2s in the pound in respect of English income tax.
