Sir William Raeburn, president of the Clyde Trust, speaking at a luncheon, admitted that Glasgow' had not as large a population to supply as London, Liverpool, Manchester or Hull, but 6,000,000 people were dependent for supplies upon Glasgow. She had all facilities for dealing with larger overseas trade, and was anxious for much more Australian and New Zealand products shipped direct to Glasgow, which was a much cheaper port in every way than London.
