PRICE OF BUTTER GIVES A JUMP.

There has been a remarkable improvement in the butter trade during the last three days, following on the better industrial outlook and reports of dry tveather in New South Wales and Queensland, which is likely to reduce the shipments. A good demand has sprung up in London and the provinces. and there have also been some sales for America and the Continent, where there is a shortage. One broker says that he sold more butter on Tuesday, Wednesday and today than for the previous four months. It is reported that New Zealand’s new season’s supplies have been practically cleared at 14Ss to 150 s. The control price has been raised t 6 156 s to 158 s. Danish is firm at 170 s. Australian—Choicest salted, 146 s to 148 s, exceptionally fine 150 s, unsalted 160 s to 1625. Cheese is firm. New Zealand, 84s to Sos. Messrs A. 11. Turnbull and 06. advise having received the following cAble from their principals, Messrs W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated November 24: “ Butter—Owing to the heavy buying of new season’s New Zealand butter for shipment to America and Canada, and also owing to the accident to the Kia Ora and Rimutaka, and small releases of stored butter, the market is firmer. New season’s controlled advanced to-day by 4s a cwt.” A further cable is to hand, dated November 25, in which Messrs W. Weddel and Co., Ltd , advise that the control price has advanced a further 4s, so that the control price to-day is 158 s for finest.
