TENNIS AFTERNOON.
An enjoyable afternoon, under ideal weather conditions, was spent at the Canterbury College courts yesterday, when a tennis tournament, organised by Mrs C. L. Hart and Mrs N. Friberg, was held. The tournament was arranged for the benefit of the ■ Christmas fund for St Saviour’s. Orphanage, and the proceeds of the afternoon should add considerably to this worthy object. Many exciting games were played, and during an interval a dainty tea was served to the players by the hostesses. The prize-winners were:— Mrs Edwin Hamilton and Miss N. Oxley. The players and contributors included:—Mesdames Royds, Bonar Lindsay, A. M’Gibbon, R. M’Gibbon, Hannan, Edwin Hamilton, E. J. Cordner, H. R. Hamilton, Crawshaw, Goss, Wilkin, Stanley Foster. Thos. Mill, Flint, 11. Perry, Malcolmson, Ogilvie, C. Buchanan, M’Bean Stewart, Sandal, J. G. L. Vernon, J. P. Andrews, T. Hume, Wratt, Fleetwood, Pipe, W. H. Clark, Parkinson: Misses Gillanders, Oxley (2), Robinson, Hartley, Harman, Travers, Holmes and Hewlett.
