SANDERS CUP TRIALS BEGIN NEXT MONTH.
The first trial to select%a Canterbury representative to defend tbe Sanders Cup will be held on December 11 at Lyttelton on a windward and leeward course in the outer harbour. Time of start, 3.15 p.m. The following fourteen-footers are eligible to compete:—Betty, Linnet 11.. Secret, Usher, .Magpie. At a meeting of the Canterbury Yachting Association it was decided to hold the Sanders Cup contest on February 12, 1927, when the first of the series of races will be sailed, the Dominion conference to be held on Friday, February 11. Challenges, which close on December 1, have been received from the Wellington, Otago and Southland Yachting Associations. The Auckland and Hawke’s Bay challenges are expected to be received within a few days. WELLINGTON TRIALS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 21. In the second trial of 14-i'ooters for the Sanders Cup. four boats went out, but only one finished. A heavy northerly wind was blowing and the boats met with various mishaps. All Black was the only one to complete the course.
