MISS CANTERBURY TO BE CROWNED AT DOMAIN FETE.
MISS CHRISTCHURCH FINALISTS WILL BEAR HER CORONATION ROBE MUSIC AND DANCING WILL HERALD EVENT. “Miss Canterbury” (Miss Mavis Pycroft) and her attendant (Miss Phyllis Mann), have accepted an invitation to take part in the Domain Fete on in aid of the funds of the Domains Board. The ceremony, in which “ Miss Canterbury”l will be the principal actor, will be a unique and a very pretty one. In the afternoon the children who are competing for the “ Miss Christchurch ” competition will parade on the archery lawn, the six finalists, will be called out, and the winner will be selected from them by Miss Py croft. In the evening the crowning ceremony, which will lie performed by the Mayor of Christchurch, will take place. “ Miss Canterbury,” wealing the coiona tion robe, the train of which will be borne by the six finalists m the “ Miss Christchurch ” competition, will head the procession, leading from the drAsing pavilion around the archery lawn to the raised dais where the ceremony will be performed. There she will be crowned with a crown of roses, and
mioo a unwv n m ■ Back in Christchurch to-morrow. receive a rose bouquet, gathered from the famous rose garden of the Domain. The Mayor will speak, and “ Miss Canterbury ” and Miss Mann, her at tendant, will be expected to reply. The lawn will be brilliantly lit by electricity, and there will be dancing on the lawn, to the music of the Municipal Band. To these attractions add the rose show, and the side shows, which will be in full swing, and an eminently delightful evening will be provided. The Pontiac cars will be at the disposal of Miss Pycroft and Miss Mann, to conduct them to and from the scene of the ceremonials.
