LADIES’ GUILD.
The Sydenham Methodist Ladies’ Guild held a "gift coin” afternQon in the church parlour, Brougham Street on Wednesday. The president, Mrs 11. J. Odell, presided. Invitations had been extended to the various guilds in and around Sydenham, with the pleasing result of an attendance of eighty-four ladies. An apology was received from Mrs Bowron, president of the Women's Auxiliaries.
The meeting opened with the sirring of the well-known hymn, “Oh, for a Thousand Tongues,” followed with a prayer by Airs W. J. Williams. A musical programme was given by the following ladies: Aliss Bessie FMlard (piano solo), Alesdames M'Whirter and Rintoul (songs). Aliss Bessie Pollard acted as accompanist. A very interesting address was given by Airs W. J. Williams, of Deaconess House, on deaconess work in general.
At the close of the address Airs Odell thanked Mrs Williams for her address, also the ladies who had given the programme. Afternoon tea was then served.
