MR W. H. YOUNG DIES SUDDENLY IN CAR.

WAS WELL KNOWN IN CITY AS TROTTING MAN, BUTCHER AND LICENSEE Mr William Henderson Young, aged fifty-nine years, well-known in trotting circles and as a butcher and publican, died suddenly while being motored ir Dr M. G. Louisson’s car this morning. Heart failure is believed to have been the cause of death. He had been in ill-health for some years. Mr Young had lived more or less in retirement at 20. M’Bratney’s Road, Richmond, for some years. Dr Louisson gave him a lift from North Parade this morning, and he collapsed and died as the car was travelling along Bealey Avenue, at about 9.45 am. The late Mr Young wac very welt known and esteemed in Christchurch. He was a trotting enthusiast and raced several horses, some in the days before the Lancaster Park Trotting Club affili ated with the Metropolitan Club. The well-known trotter Peter Timmerman was owned by him, while he was in partnership with Mr George lies in th. lacing of Willie Lincoln and Prince Lyons. Mr Young was a member of the old Woolston Borough Council, and a Free mason. The presidency of the Christchurch Working Men’s Club was another office which he had held some years ago.
