BOXING TOURNEY STARTS TO-NIGHT AT BARRACKS.

FINALS TAKE PLACE TO-MORROW EVENING. Fifty-three of the best amateur boxers in Christchurch will take part ’n the tournament which i>* being held tonight and to-morrow night in King Edward Barracks. So large have been the entries that It has been found necesbaiy to start the tournament at 7.30. To-night, there will he something like twenty-five bouts, and to-morrow night, when the finals arc fought, there will be twenty bouts. Among the competitors are some who have gained the highest awards in their weights. and they are looking for fresh fields to conquer. The boys are all keen and fit, nnd good fights are expected. Ti e object of the association is to encourage amateur sport among territorial* and cadets. In order to popularise the tournament, the price for admission has been fixed at one shilling, which is the lowest that has yet been charged m Christchurch for good quality boxing. To-night, music will be supplied by the band of the First Battalion. Canterbury Regiment, and to-morrow night by the band of the Fourth Cadet Battalion. Canterbury Regiment.
