Thousands of Aucklanders who were desirous of attending the beautv* pageant on the final night have been disappointed, as the house was booked out several weeks ago. At the Cargcn Hotel, after lunch tomorrow, the girls will be judged, although the result will not be revealed until the evening at the conclusion cf the beauty pageant. It is confidently expected here that Miss Sutherland will be the winner, but there is some doubt as to whether Miss Ford or Miss Distin Strange will be her maid of honour,, although Miss Ford is favoured for second place. Miss Sutherland has a beautiful face, but she is very slightly built, and her figure is not comparable with those of several of the other beauties. Tt is proving a very exciting time for the girls, but they are all in the pink of condition, and. while all are naturally anxious of returning with the title, each hopes that the prettiest girl will win. To judge the girls will be a most difficult task, as they each represent a different type of beauty, and that they all have their admirers is eloquently attested by the applause they have all been greeted with at His Majesty’■ Theatre each evening. Visiting the Royal Show here yesterday, “ Miss Canterbury ” was admired by thousands as she passed along the side show row. and cheers went up from the grandstand as the little sixteen year old girl from the south passed by. Men and women who, prior to her arrival, had been intensely interested in exhibits in every quarter of the ground, rushed across to the little beauty to join in the cheering and pay their tribute to the queen of the south.
