INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL CONCERT IN CHORAL HALL TUESDAY

An undoubted novelty for musiclovers will be featured at next Tuesday evening’s vocal and instrumental concert at the Choral Hall. Aa long as there is any feeling for the romantic in music, so long will the overture to “William Tell” hold a very high place in the affections of musical people. This work lias been in assiduous practice by some of the ’cello students. Harold Beck, as an exponent of this particular instrument, is eminently known throughout the Dominion and in Australia.. The three artists who are responsible for the programme to he presented—Mr Harold Reck. Miss Jessie King and Miss Irene Morris—enjoy a distinctive prominence in Christchurch musical circles. Further enjoyment is assured by the vocal (choral and solo) works of the Students of Miss Jessie King. Thes*? include two very fine songs of Schubert and Brahms and the favourite aria.

“Caro Nome" from Verdi's “Rigoletto.” Songs by well known modern composers wijl also be given and a vocal trio by Coleridge Taylor, "A June Rose Bloomed” will be a charming and graceful item. A feature of tins programme will be the performances of instrumental solos by selected pupils of Miss Irene Morris and Mr Harold Beck.
