“CYCLISTS TOWED BY MOTOR-CARS.”

INVESTIGATION URGED IN BIG ROAD RACE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November IS. A hundred miles cycling road race, from Hamilton to Auckland, resulted;— C. Ilelier, New Plymouth, hep. 30 min, actual time shr 12min 30 4-ssec 1 C. 11. Jennings, Palmerston North, 30mm, shr 48min 35 l-ssec .. 2 D, A. C. Taylor, Auckland, 30min, shr 48min 52sec 3 A. Sutherland, Auckland, 12min, shr 40min, was fourth and fastest time. J. Henderson, Auckland (lomin) was fifth, and R. Healey (70min) sixth. There were twenty-six starters, the scratch men, S. M’Cann (New Plymouth) and R. Lasky forfeiting their engagements. Other scratchings left Sutherland, 12min, scratch man. The weather was fine and the roads were in good order, with a few bad patches. Helier, Jennings and Taylor, all on the same mark, kept together practically throughout, overhauling the limit men in the last thirty miles. Helier drew away to win by about six minutes from Jennings, with Taylor close up third. There were several punctures. I J LAGINGS ALTERED. Sutherland, said the prize money would not be awarded until the officials were satisfied that all the riding conditions had been observed by the competitors.
