Mr and Mrs Graham (Auckland) are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr and Mrs J. Wilson (Wellington) are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr and Mrs D. Harrison (Dunedin), are at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr and Mrs H. Y. S. Grater, Timaru, are staying at the United Service Hotel. Miss Tai Ngata (Gisborne) and Miss Molly Edmundson (Napier) left Christchurch last evening for the north. Mr and Mrs Schrader have returned to Little River from a holiday tour in the North Island. / Mrs 11. D. Neutze, of Raukapuka, Geraldine, is spending a holiday in Lincoln and is the guest of Mrs R. T. Button, of Ilassendcan. Miss Mabel Raine, L.A.8., and Miss Rose Goodwin, of New Brighton, left 3 r esterday for Wellington to join the Ulimaroa en route to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Mr and Mrs Preston Hamersley, Western Australia, arrived in Christchurch this morning and are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr and Mrs W. T. Smellie, Dunedin, arrived by car from the South this morning, and are staying at the United Service Hotel. Recent arrivals at Warner’s Hotel include:—Mrs and Mrs A. E. Knox (Wellington), and Mr and Mrs Graham (Auckland). Colonel and Mrs Corrigan, of Wellington, will leave Christchurch this evening for the North. Mr and Mrs J. W. Niven, have left on a holiday visit to the North Island. Mrs Pattison (Hastings) : Mr G. Parkinson, Mr P. Hill, Mr Menzies Gibb (Christchurch); Mr J. Gore, Mrs K. ,Gould (Wellington) : Mrs V. Parker (Tai Tapu), and Mrs T. E. Clayton (Christchurch), are among the recent arrivals at the New Brighton Cafe. Guests at Godley House, Diamond Harbour, during the past week included: —Mrs R. Sunley, Mrs Young and child, Mrs O'Connor, Mrs M’Creanor and two children, Misses Harvey, Terrill, Ste-wart and Mr P. Riley. In yesterday's report of the vocal recital by Miss Marian Woodhouse’s pupils, the name of Miss Elsie Prince was inadvertently omitted. Miss Prince sang Schubert’s “My Shelter,” and as an encore gave “Death and the Maiden.” Guests at the Hotel Federal include the following:—Mr E. Shaw, Timaru; Mr H. Todd, Hawke’s Bay: Mrs Orr, Ashburton; Mrs Digby, Ashburton; Mr and Mrs Sydney Kelly, Wellington; Miss Frame, Dunedin; Mr P. Cameron, Dunedin; Mr Snushall, Kaikoura; Mr A. Lane, Ashburton; Mr John M’Donald, Invercargill; Mrs Gaudin. Auckland ; Mr Henderson, Dunedin; Mrs Hunt, *rimaru. A well-attended meeting of the North Brighton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon. In the absence of the president. Mrs E. Leaver (vice-president) presided. The meeting was opened with de\ T otional exercises conducted by Mrs Goring. Mrs J. F. Eanres, president of the North Beach “Y” branch, reported good progress. It was also reported that twenty-eight had been enrolled on the Cradle Roll. Mrs E. M’Combs was present and expressed her pleasure and surprise at the progress and activity of the branch. Mrs M'Combs gave an interesting address on “Citizenship,” in which she eulogised the -work of the pioneers. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs M’Combs. Afternoon tea was dispensed. At the next meeting, the election of officers will take place. A very enjoyable flannel dance was held by the Christchurch Technical College Old Girls’ Cricket Club in the Technical College Hall recently, Crawford’s Banjo Band supplying excellent music. The hall was tastefully decorated with the club’s colours, green and gold. The programme included several novelty dances, the lucky spot waltz being won by Miss Clarice Loder and Mr G. Rose, and the Monte Carlo fox trot by Miss Mavis Taylor and Mr C. Rogers. The committee responsible for the arrangements were Misses D. Dickinson, I. Taylor, W. Milton, F. Howarth, N. Richmond, L. Todd, M. Blyth, M. Archer, L. Perkins, and G. Foote.

An enjoyable dance was held recently in the Avonside schoolroom. Among those present were:—Mesdames Kellaway, Sprosen, Kinvig, Williamson and Vincent; Misses A. Taylor, G. Moulin, E. Kermode, M.
