WHY ARE THE U.S. ATHLETES NOT COMING?

(Special to the “ Star. ') WELLINGTON. November Although the American athletes not coming to New Zealand arrangements have been completed for Lamb, the Australian amateur cyclist, to tour the Dominion this season, so the season will not be without its special attraction. Until a letter is received from Mr Krogness, the council does not know how it stands with regard to future American tours. The American Amateur Athletic Conucil has decided that athletes going abroad are not to be allowed to remain in the country they visit more than twentyone days. The annual meeting of the American Union was to discuss an application for a tour of America by European athletes. It is considered probable that the proposal may have been turned down, and that the council therefore, felt it incumbent to take similar action in regard to the proposed tour to New Zealand.
