LATE SOCIAL NEWS.

WEDDING. WOODSFORD—DIGNEY. A wedding which created a considerable amount of interest was celebrated at St Paul’s Church this afternoon when Eveleen, one of the finalists in the “Star” Beauty Competition, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Digney, Devon Street, Spreydon, was married to Albert, eldest son of Mrs Woodsford, and the late Mr Woodsford, Christchurch. The Rev. Bower Black was the officiating , clergj'man and Mr Raynor White presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked most attractive in her bridal gown of ivory crepe granite, made on straight lines from the shoulders with inset pleated side panels, and the bishop sleeves were of georgette. Arranged from a coronet of orange blossoms her embroidered tulle veil fell in graceful folds forming a train and she carried a bouquet of white flowers.

Attending the bride were three maids —Miss Rita Hitchings, who wore a charming frock of mignonette green marocain, prettily beaded in silver and Miss Thelma Cow'ell and Miss Monica Snooks, wearing frocks of blush pink and wistered mauve respectively. Crepe de chine was the material used and the simple frocks were most effec tive. All three maids wore veils of tulle arranged fan fashion and carried bouquets to tone with their frocks. Mr Frank Derrizzie attended the bridegroom as best man and Mr Donald Spiers and Mr Len Gibb were groomsmen. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Dorothy Tea Rooms, where 100 guests were entertained. Mrs Digney receive dher guests wearing a handsome frock, of black cloth and satin relieved with white and a black hat with white ospreys. She carried a bouquet of red roses. Mrs Woodsford, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy blue ensemble suit wi£h a hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of cream roses.
