ADDINGTON BURGESSES.
The usual monthly meeting: of the Addington Burgesses' Association was held on Wednesday. Mr P. J. Molloy (chairman) presided over a good attendance. Messrs Necs and W. Craigie were elected to the association. Mr J. S. Neville, Town Clerk, wrote stating that the matter of overhanging trees, street watering, and asphalt repairing, referred to by the Association, had been referred to the Works Committee. The letter was received. It was decided by ballot to affilfate with the United Burgesses' Asso : elation. The following officers were nominated for election at the annual meeting: President, Mr P. J. Molloy; eecretarv, Mr W. H. Griffin; treasurer, Mr E. Parlane. Mr A. E. Loach addressed the meeting on the Watmakarlri loan scheme.
That underground petrol tanks were not s»£*, and were not Wanted in the residential area of Addington, was the contention of the chairman. “If 99 per cent of them are safe," said Mr Molloy, “then there is 1 per cent pf danger.'' The secretary (Mr W. H. Griffiths) said that experts would not guarantee the safety of the tanks. Mr Molloy said that the matter had been discussed thoroughly, and there was no need for further feulark* «**n it.
