A Queensland Distinction. Queensland holds the unique distinction of having had two Governors who were offered the position of Viceroy'of India. Lord Chelmsford became Viceroy after he had served as Governor of the northern State, but Sir Flenry Norman Avas actually offered the. exalted position w’hile still Governor of Queensland. Sir Henry, however, declined the offer, for reasons, it was understood at the tirte, quite Outside the questiort Of the financial obligations devohving on the holder of the position. Bishop West-Watson will leave on a visit to Westland on Thursday next. He •will remain on the West Coast until July 30, when he will visit Wellington for the purpose of attending the meetings of the General Synod.
