MISCHIEF CAUSES BUS ENGINE BLAZE.
BACK-FIRE CAUSED BY WATER PLACED in carburettor: Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 23. A twenty'-two skater bus belonging to a Wellington motor -company caught fire late last night nfear Basin Reserve. No passengers were aboard at the time The driver, named Gibson, was investigating some engine trouble that had developed bn the run ija*from Island Bay-, and leaned, over to lift, the bonnet cover, ivhen 'flames bursV'out from the engine- The brigade was quickly' on the spot and quenched the fire which scorched the engine considerably’, but did not damage the body ot the bus. The driver attributed the trouble to someone putting water in the carburettor and causing backfire, a practice which he states lias been prevalent lately.
