THE BRIGHTON BRIDGE.
BY SINBAD. Oh sing a song of Brighton, and bridges they have planned, with measurements that frighten the motor-boating band: of subsidies and quotas, of tides and everything, my teardrops you will note as my doleful lay I sing. In manner thus the)- pleaded, that Brighton Council crew, “A wider bridge is needed, to let the traffic through, we'll build it strong and pretty, a worthy work ’twill be, and then \ye'll sting the city and get a subsidy.” “What care we for appearance,” the m,otor-boat-ers cried, “you haven't left a clearance, sufficient at high tide, for as upon the river, we gaily skim along, our timbers we will shiver, you’ve built the darn thing wrong.” Yet all in vain they pleaded, their outlook now is gray, their wailings were not heeded, and low the bridge will stay, this ruling is, I fear a bad knock for boating beans, we may see yet the era, of motor-submarines’.
