LATE SOCIAL NEWS.

WEDDING. RICHARDS— BALLANTYNE. A wedding of considerable interest to a wide circle of friends and relatives was celebrated at St Barnabas Church. Fendalton, this afternoon, when Hazel, eldest daughter of Mr R. Ballantyne, “Yeronga." Riccarton, was married to Clive Richards. Waiau, second son of Mr and Mrs T. B. Richards. of Fendalton. The Rev H. S. Leach officiated at the ceremony, and Mr H. Lund presided at the organ. Palms, foliage and spring flowers of gold and white were used in the scheme of decorations in the church which formed a beautiful setting for the bridal party. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked most attractive in her bridal gown of ivory brocade, made with a straight panel back and front and full circular flares at each side. A strap panel of the material was attached to one shoulder and caught at the low waist line back and front, the front being held with a spray' and trail of orange blossom, at the opposite side was a half circle of hand-made flowers of ivory* georgette. The long close fitting sleeves of georgette were embroidered and fell long over the wrist. From a coronet of silver tissue and orange blossoms her hand-embroidered tulle veil, worn over the face, fell in long graceful folds to the hem of her gown and a spray of orange blossom buds with a delicate trail fell from one side of the coronet. She carried a bouquet of white flowers, lightly touched with pink. Mis 6 Muriel Richards, sister of the bridegroom, attended the bride, and wore a distinctive frock of maize coloured lace, mounted on crepe de chine, and made with long tight sleeves and a circular skirt. Her hat of crinoline straw wks of fox-glove pink and a large gold rose trimmed one side of the under brim, and she carried a bouquet of gold and bronze chrysanthemums. Mr Guy Hardman, Waiau, attended the bridegroom as best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Winter Garden, which was most artistically decorated for the occasion. Mrs W. B. Clarkson, grandmother of the bride, was hostess, and wore an attractive model frock cf black beaded marocain, a smart black hit, And a wrap coat of heavy black brocade. Mrs Richards, mother of the bridegroom, wore a smartly tailored costume of silver grey cloth, and a becoming black hat. When the bride left for her wedding tour she travelled in a tailored suit of brown and fawn mixed tweed lightly checked, and a fawn velour felt hat. With pleated ribbon trimming.
