PREMIERS PROTEST AGAINST FEDERAL FINANCE MOVE.

The Premiers’ conference carried the ! following resolution: That the States do not assent to any financial scheme proposed by the Federal Government that does not provide for their receiving a fixed annual payment of not less than 23s per head of the population, and that there should be no departure from the basis upon which the financial relations of the Commonwealth and the States rest without the fullest consideration at a constitutional session, and the approval of 1 the people at a referendum.
