SUMNER BOWLING CLUB.

J lie annual meeting of the Sumner Bowling- Club was held last evening, the president, Mr W. G. Black, presiding over an attendance of about thirty members.

The annual report showed that there were 64 active members arid 26 billiard members. Under the capable management of Air W. Henley, green superintendent, and Air W. G. Burch, groundsman, the green and premises had been kept in good condition. Already defective patches had been treated and the future promised well. The new portion was responding splendidly to treatment. During the year the standard of play had been well maintained. Two teams had won their sections in the competitions. The club had sustained a loss by the removal of Mr W. F. Raphael to Christchurch. The billiard section had arranged several winter tournaments with a total revenue of £l3B 5s 3ld. The balance-sheet showed an improvement upon last year's figures and the balance of assets over liabilities was £1695 4s 4d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following awards were made:— Champion rinks and Al’Dougall Challenge Cup, J. AI. B. Crawford, F. C. Cother. R. Main and W. F. Raphel; champion pairs, H. H. Barlow and T. F. Chambers; champion singles, E. A. Johnson; handicap singles, W. I. Hampton; handicap doubles, J. Illingworth and R. Alain; two bowl double, J. Martin and F. T. Edwards. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Air G. Humphreys; president. Air G. AY. Foster; vice-president. Mr J. M. B. Crawford; treasurer, Air T. Undrill; secretary. Air F. I. Edwards; delegate to Canterbury Centre, Air G. W. C. Smithson; green superintendent, Air W. Henlev. general committee. Alessrs H. H. Barlow, W. S. Alitehell, F. C. Cother. AV. I. Hampton, AY. Henley, T. F. Chambers and C. Forrest; selection committee, Messrs H. H. Barlow, T. F. Chambers and TV. Henley; auditor. Air H. AY. He slop. Mr AY. S. Mitchell was appointed to form a house committee. Votes of thanks were accorded the outgoing officers, Air W. G. Black and the ladies.
