HOCKEY TEST PLAYERS.
To the Editor. Sir,—l have noticed the protests by several minor associations who have not had their own particular “stars” selected to shine in the limelight which fails on those who catch the selector's eye. No doubt there are some good players in the districts outside the four centres, but the scores put up by the visiting Indian Army team would suggest that they cannot approach the. standard of the players from the larger centres. However, to give these players a chance to prove that they can play the game I -would suggest that a country team be selected lor the second test and that the game should be removed to farmer Brown’s own paddock. The following suggested team should help the selectors. Goal: Turner (Geraldine); backs: Howartson (Wanganui), Tregurtha (Duller); halves: Sweeney (Waikato), Page (Taranaki), Davies (Taranaki), forwards, Woolley (Hawke’s Bay), Simmonds (Wanganui), Schadick (Duller), Daley (Duller), Voss (Geraldine). Reserves: Goal: Snooks (Canterbury); backs: Perrin (Wellington), Ireland (Otago); half: Flore (Canterbury); forward: Watts (Auckland). The only speculation of the result of such a match would be the number of goals the Army team would score.—l am, etc.. FOLLOWER.
