GRANT OF £looo IS TO BE VALIDATED.
The Town Clerk is taking steps to have an amended clause inserted in the Local Legislation Bill. In connection with the validation of the City Council’s grant of £IOOO to the Pearson Memorial Fund, the ByLaws and Finance Committee reported at last night's meeting of the council that the City Solicitor had forwarded the following amended clause in lieu of the clause submitted to the Minister of Internal Affairs:—“lt shall be lawful for the Christchurch City Council to contribute out of its district fund a sum of not more than £250 in each year for four consecutive years, the first of such payments to be made in the year ending December 31, 1926, to the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund.”
