CELEBRATION OF KING’S BIRTHDAY

EFFECT OF THE STRIKE IS NOTICED. Aus. and X.Z. Cable Association. Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received June 4,2 p.m.) LONDON, June 3. The usual picturesque feature of the King's Birthday celebrations, the trooping of the colours at the Horse Guards Parade was omitted at to-day’s ceremony. It was cancelled in sonsequence of the strike and the dislocation of the business scattering the Guards, who were on duty in various parts of hte country. The Royal celebration of the event, in accordance with custom, was confined to a family luncheon party. Cables of congratulation were received from all parts of the world at Buckingham Palace, outside which was a crown larger than usual.
