The chief bailiff at the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court states in regard to an article which appeared in Saturday's issue that a bailiff has no uniform, and is not in the same category as a constable. lie adds that the Distress and Replevin Act has not been repealed, although certain sections dealing with the valu eof chattels that were exempt from distraint have been repealed. No statement was made by him to the effect that a man was not | now left in possession at the time of execution. A large peat fire has been burning continuously in Warren House Inn, on Dartmoor, for IGO years.
