ENTITLED TO TAKE LOAN FLOTATION AS CONFIDENCE VOTE.
MR COATES REFERS TO N.Z. SUCCESS IN LONDON. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 2. Referring to the successful flotation of the New Zealand loan of £6,000,000 in Ivondon during the past few days, the Prime Minister, Mr Coates, in a speech to, a Targe and representative gathering at Dargaville to-day, said he was entitled to regard what had happened as a vote of confidence, not only in the Dominion itself, but also in the Government. It was splendid testimony to the capacity, progress and integrity of the community, and also to the high regard in which stability of Government was held in the heart of the Empire. All our cards had been placed on the table, our balance-sheet had been examined and had received the approbation of the keenest financial critics at Home. Over-subscription of the loan in two hours spoke for itself. It was now up to all of our people to do all they could to live up to the fine reputation which New Zealand had gained. It was quite true we had our little troubles, industrial and otherwise, but with thrift, energy and hard work, on the part of all sections of the community the clouds' would soon roll away. He was firmly convinced the Dominion could look forward to even brighter days than had been experienced in the past. The Prime Minister’s remarks were received with enthusiastic applause.
