The Chamber’s vote of confidence, 313 votes to 147, has given the Government breathing space to continue the defence of the franc. Arising from a Socialist demand for an immediate financial debate, M. Briand declared that a debate was at present inopportune. The Government. would submit financial projects within a month and if the Government had not a sufficient majority it would resign. ______
