PUBLICLY-OWNED BUSES.
To the Editor. Sir,—ln support of my submission that you xvere incorrect in stating that the bus regulations did| not ensure public ownership of buses, I quoted the action of Palmerston North and Timaru Boroughs, who xvere supporting the bus regulations for the only reason that the councils thought they ensured public ownership, and not as you feared. Unexpectedly early confirmation of thic is in the “Star” to-night. Timarvi Borough Council has refused all applications for permits from prix-ate busmen, because the. Council desires that all the buses in Timaru shall be publicly owned, xx'hich is the desire of the “Star" also. But for the new bus regulations they could not hax'e done this.--r Yours. etc., SERVICE. NOT PROFITS.
