UTILITY POULTRY CLUB.

The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club was held last evening, when Mr W. T. Green presided. A donation of fl Is was received from the Hon Sir R. Heaton Rhodes. Mr R. B. Thompson, head of the Poultry Department of the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College. Stillwater, U.S.A., wrote asking if the club knew of a record to exceed 2(ill eggs for a. ten hen pen for a 365 days period. He had been told that the record was a high one and wished to verify the statement. The secretary stated that he had replied informing Air Thompson that the record for New Zealand for a six bird team was 1659 in 365 days. The New Zealand Club did not bold ton bird tests. Tbe secretary’s action was approved. The treasurer, Air W. H. West, reported that during the 2 925-26 season 83 1 dozen duck eggs had been marketed from the club’s competition at a value of £7l 18s Id, 5776 dozen hen eggs at T 319, and 514 dozen second grade hen eggs at £53 9s 3d. The profit a dozen was 10£d. The average return per duck was £1 9s 115 d, and the average return per hen was £1 6s l£d. A vote of thanks was accorded to Air West for his report and for the manner in which he had drawn up the information that was contained in the report. Air R. W. Plawke reported that two lords had died during the month. He detailed the results of his examination of the birds, the death being due to inflammation. The Educational Committee reported on the syllabus which had been drawn up for the coming year. The report and syllabus were adopted. The secretary reported that the club bad been invited to attend the World's Poultry Congress at Ottawa, Canada. He thought that the Government should lie urged to send the Chief Instructor to the congress to represent New Zealand and to visit the United States in order to gain, the latest information on the poultry- industry. He moved that the Government be asked to send the Chief Instructor to attend the next World's Congress. The motion was carried. It. was decided to send a similar motion to the New Zealand Poultry Conference. with a request for support.
