FURTHER NOMS. FOR SOUTH ISLAND TEAM.
CARLETON AND OLIVER INCLUDED. The Canterbury selectors today decided to forward the names of S. R. Cafleton and C. Oliver to be added to the list of nominations for places in the South Island team, which will be picked in Christchurch on Friday night. Carleton belongs to the Old Boys Club and has been playing brilliant football at centre three-quarter. Though belated, his nomination is thoroughly deserved. Oliver plays second five-eighths for Merivale. He too has been playing brilliantly’ - this season. Last year he was first emergency for the South Island team, and it is hard to understand how he was overlooked when the first batch of names were sent in this time. Canterbury supporters of the game will be pleased to see either or both of these young players given a chance to distinguish themselves on Saturday week in Wellington.
