NORTH CANTERBURY GUN CLUB.
CLAY BIRD EVENTS. The North Canterbury Gun Club shot off four clay bird events on Saturday afternoon. Although the weather was showery the shooting conditions were The first event was a 12-bird handicap for two trophies presented by the president. Mr ,1. Skilling and Mr J. M'Clure, with an optional sweep added. There were thirteen entrants, of whom eight subscribed to the sweep. The result was A. Anderson. 15yds, and J. Miles. 12yds. tied with the possible. In the shoot off for the trophies J. Miles won the first prize on the first round. In the sweep A. Anderson took first money, and the second and third was divided between J. Wesley 13yds and U. Kerr 10yds wth 11 birds each. Other good scores were: J. J. Mathews 15yds 11 breaks, G. Bruere 16yds, W. Anderson, jun., 15yds and A. Tyler 12yds 10 each, the last named winning the club's special prize for the best unplaced performance inside the 13 yards mark. The second event was a ten-bird sweep to which 12 competitors subscribed. J. J. Matthews 15yds, A. Anderson 16yds and J. Wesley 13yds broke the possible and divided the sweep money. A. Taylor with 0 breaks off 12 yards won the club’s special prize. Tho next event was a ten-bird sweep, in which 13 competed. A. B. Kerr 14yds, <l. Bruere 15yds. W. Anderson, jun., 13yds and A. Taylor 13yds shot all their birds and divided, the sweep. A. Prestney 12yds and E. Xelmes 11yds divided the club's special prize with S breaks each. The final was a first miss out, for which there were 12 entries. J. J. Matthews 16yds. J. Wesley 15yds and A. Prestney 12yds divided the prize money »t the end of the fourth round.
