VICTORIA LEAGUE PAYS HOMAGE TO QUEEN’S MEMORY.
The Union Jack was unfurled in Victoria Square to-day—unfurled in commemoration of-the day of the birth of Queen Victoria. On May i|4, 1819 the queen was born and through her early girlhood she sought and lived for peace that she might ascetid the throne of England to bring peace and prosperity to her people. So steadfast was she in her purpose that ihe became known as Victoria the. t Good. Through the years her memory has lived. This morning a small but impressive ceremony tvas performed in Victoria Square in reverent memory of the Queen. The members of the Victoria ’League gathered at the base of the Queen's Statue and placed a laurel wreath on the fence that surrounds the ‘ monument. ,
