Miss Flora Bodlev, of Auckland, is at present visiting Christchurch. Miss Rose Gerard has returned to Christchurch from Timaru. Mr and Mrs Samuel Barker, of England, have left Christchurch for Dunedin. Mrs D. V. Croker and Mrs C. V. Mann (Wellington) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Dr and Mrs Neil Guthrie have returned to Christchurch from a short visit to Gisborne. Mrs A. L. F. Ledger and Miss Connie Ledger will return to Christchurch this evening from Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Burt, of Dunedin, will arrive in Christchurch at the end of the week, and will stay at St Elmo. The Misses Burns. Lyttelton, who *were spending a brief holiday in Dunedin, have returned to their home. Mr and Mrs Brittan and daughter have returned home after spending a short holiday at Ocean View, Governors Bay. Mrs Perry (Patea). Miss M’Rae (Patea). Miss Taylor (Dunedin), and Miss Gibson (Patea), are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr and Mrs F. J. Murray, St Elmo, left on Friday evening for Auckland to attend the Gulliver—Gee wedding, which takes place on May 4. Mr Henry Schnell and Miss Stella Schnell, of “ Meadowvale,” Lakeside, have returned after spending an enjoyable time at the Dunedin Exhibition. Mr and Mrs S. T. Silver (Wellington). Mr and Mrs J. Snell (Wellington), and Mrs J. F. Bennett (Blenheim), are guests at Warner's Hotel. Miss Kura Stewart has left Kaikoura to enter the Wairau Hospital in order to finish her nursing training, wires the correspondent of the “Star.'’ Mrs R. B. Bell. Arden. Wai-iti Road, Timaru. returned to the south from Christchurch on Saturda3*. Mrs Spencer-Bower, who was at Otiritiri with Mrs Edgar Jones, has returned to Christchurch. Miss Stewart, who has been spending a few months with Mrs E. Stockwill (White Street. Timaru), has returned to Christchurch.

Mrs G. S. Cray, Sea view Terrace, Timaru. returned to the south from Christchurch on Saturday.

Mr and Mrs Walter Baxter, Christchurch, who were at the Grosvenor, Timaru, for the races, motored on to Dunedin on Friday.

Miss Hungerford, who is the guest of Mrs E. Clissold, North Street. Timaru. has been reappointed nurse in charge of the Christchurch schools, and will leave for Christchurch next week to take up her duties.

Miss Olive M. Rowe has been notified that she has been accepted as a student of Somerville College, Oxford, where she will specialise in classics. Miss Rowe intends to leave for England in August. Miss Ena Stocklev, one of New Zealand's champion lady swimmers, left Auckland on Friday for Sydney, where she will take up a position for an indefinite period. It is hoped that she will return for the championship carnival in Auckland next summer.

The following are among the recent arrivals at the Hotel Federal:—Mr and Mrs C. Shuttleworth, Chorlton; Mr C. E. Pendleton. Timaru; Mr and Mrs J Quin and Mrs R. J. Morris, Eltham, Taranaki; Mr and Mrs H. D. James, Wanganui; Air N. M'Lean, Auckland; Mr Mrs F. T. Horne. Pahiatua; Mr C. Oliver, Culverden; Mr and Mrs J. W. Jones. Lower Hutt; Mr and Mrs R. Speedy. Tinui: Mr E. Palliser, Wellington and Mr W. Rayner, Auckland. At the Kaikoura Hospital on Friday a very pleasant function took place, when a farewell was tendered to Mrs C. J. Agar, previously a nurse at the institution. There was a large assemblage of lady friends, and Mrs Williamson, in making a short address, express ed regret at the departure of the guest of honour and presented her with a handsome glass fruit dish on behalf of her many friends. Songs were contributed by several of those present, and a most, enjoyable afternoon was spent, wires the Kaikoura correspondent of the “Star.”
