“STAR” SPORTS COMPETITIONS.
SIX PRIZES WEEKLY FOR FOOTBALL FOLLOWERS
Sports competitions will be conducted in the “ STAR ” throughout the football season. Six prizes, each of £l, will be given to the competitors who send in the most accurate predictions of the scores in the senior competitions of the Canterbury Rugby Union, Canterbury Rugby League, and Canterbury Football Association. Three prizes have been assigned to Rugby, two to League and one to Soccer. The intention of the “Star” is to avoid anything approaching a mere lottery or guesswork. For this reason, the competitions will appeal to followers of the three football codes, as they will be able to exercise their skill in the individual competitions in which they are interested. It is not necessary to compete in more than one of the three competitions to have a chance o£ winning a £1 prize. Coupons will appear in every issue of the “ Star ” except on Saturdays. A competitor may send in as many predictions as he likes. Results will be announced on Mondays.
