SYDNEY IS SECOND WHITE CITY IN BRITISH EMPIRE.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received May 1, 10.45 a.m.) SYDNEY. May 1. Sydney claims to be the second white city in the British Empire. The City Assessor has compiled statistics showing the development in recent years of the unimproved value of Sydney. In 1895, when the first valuation of the city was made, it was approximately £10,000.000. This to January 1, 1924, had increased to £44,500,000, and the improved value had increased in that time from £53,000.000 to £141,000,000. The Assessor claims that further considerable improvement will be shown next year, when a revaluation again takes place. New buildings are at present being constructed in the city which represent an outlay' of £2,750,000.
