MOTOR CAPSIZES ON WAY TO DUNEDIN.

An accident bef.e) three Me Given residents who set out to motor to Dunedin by night, with the idea of reaching the southern city- early yesterdaymorning. At about 2 a.m., when near Herbert the car was swerved suddenly' to avoid a cow with the result that the car , ’ turned over three times before coming j to a standstill. The car was owned j * by Mr S. G. Holmes, who was at the J : wheel and carried as passengers Messrs A. Wilson and C. Nordquist. Mr Wilson, with a. deep cut on the thigh was the most severely- injured, but Mr Holmes sustained cuts on the head, which necessitated the" insertion of several stitches. Mr Nordquist suffered from a cut on the foot. Despite their condition and the damage done to the car they were able to drive twenty- miles to Palmerston South. Medical attention was obtained and with Mr Wilson on a. stretcher in the guard's van the three men returned on the express to Ashburton. Mr Wilson was admitted to the Countv Hospital. Messrs Holmes and Nordquist returned to Methven.
