CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr IT. A. Young, S.M.) BY-LAW BREACHES. Robert C. Church (Burnham), Simon Connelly (Temuka), D. G. Pritchett, and Robert D. Robinson were each fined 10s for leaving motor cars unattended in Deans Avenue, Riccarton, on Addington sale. day. Andrew Alexander, an old man, and Louis Ebert, a cripple, were each convicted and ordered to pay costs for cycling without lights. For driving a motor car without a license Evelyn Acland (Mr Brassing* ton) was fined 20s and costs. The following penalties with costs were imposed on cyclists for riding wit hout # lights : Ronald Batchelor 20s, Leo J. Brett 20s, James Forrester 10s, James W. Fraser 20s. Arthur Graham 20s, P. B. Ilaggitt 20s, Raymond 11. Layton 20s, Alfred Lucking 20s. Lcn Neale 2s 6d, Alfred Scott 10s. Arthur Smith ss, Norman Sturrock 20s.

Robert B. Stock was fined 20s and costs for leaving a motor car unattended on the Sumner Esplanade. For leaving motor cars unliglited the following were fined: Ernest Blesson 20s and costs, Thomas Moore 10s, Robert J. Murphy 10s, Arthur B. Edwards 7s (costs). Stanley S. Roberts was fined 5s and costs for having no license to ride a motor cycle. James Stringfellow was fined 20s and costs for driving sheep in the Riccarton Borough during prohibited hours. On charges of taking motor cycles into Ilaglev Park the following were fined: -Edward Colville 10s and costs. Roy Hooper 20s and costs, Carlton Per kins 7s (costs), Whai Pooti 5s and costs. Leslie. Kingston and Roycc B. Soanes were ordered to pay costs 7s, for having unlicensed wireless sets. For pillion riding Alfred W. Bigwood was fined 20s and costs. Molly Macfarlane was ordered to pay costs 7s, for failing to produce her motor driving license when requested to do Andrew IC. Young was fined 10s and costs for being in possession of an unregistered shot-gun. For cycling on the footpath penalties were imposed as follows, with costs:— Arthur Dobbie 20s, Cyril James 20s, Daniel L. Grcaney ss, Keith R. Richards 10s. Alfred Sullivan was fined 10s and costs for having unauthorised numbers attached to his motor car. Leslie- Mendelken was ordered to pay costs for riding a motor cycle on the footpath. Stanley Dawkins and Robert Smith, who pleaded guilty to charges of riding on the footpath and having no lights, were fined 20s and costs on each charge. John J. Goulding was fined £3 and costs for driving a motor car without a license. A similar penalty was imposed on Leslie O. M’Kenzie in respect to a motor cycle. Ronald Lewthwaite was ordered to pay costs 7s, for committing a breach of the Defence Act by wearing a military overcoat. Ruskin Lyons was fined £3 and costs for riding a motor cycle without a light. Similarly charged William Rogers explained that part of his lamp had been stolen. He was ordered to pay costs 7s. TRUANCY. For failing to send a child to school J. H. Borton, of Sockburn, was fined 10s and costs. UNCOVERED FRUIT. For displaying fruit uncovered, and for having'it displayed on a shelf obtruding on the footpath, Francis Arthur Tanner was fined 15s and costs, and Ah Chong, a Chinaman, 10s and costs, on each charge. The Mavor (Mr J. K. Archer), and the Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville) went south this morning to attend the closing scenes of the Dunedin Exhibition.
