George Gartery was fined £5, Court costs 16s and witnesses' expenses 20s. The charge arose out of Gar lory’s having knocked down a man in Rtccarton Road. Defendant pleaded guilty to a technical breach of the bylaw. Counsel for defendant said that of the road was closed for sewage work, and tramway men were also working there. Defendant had been watching a congested traffic, and had not applied his brakes quick enough to save knocking down a tramway employee, who subsequently was admitted to the Hospital. TOBBtmY TKOTS.
