Oh, give a cheer for Haggisville, and those who ran the Exhibition, successfully they strove to fill their self-appointed lofty mission, for quite defying adverse fates, they little recked of Auckland's scorning, and now three million through the gates have passed—that is the news this morning. Since first the project was begun, and even when it first was mooted, some people said ‘‘lt can’t be done” and others with derision hooted. ‘‘ How can a land of folk so few,” said they, “ put through the proposition, and, more, it’s in Dunedin, too, that’s no place for an exhibition.” But with a murmured “ We shall see ” the porridge-eating population, attacked the task most manfully, and thereby won great approbation. There’s not a doubt the southern Scot a person very shrewd and wise is; he pushed the total up a lot. by giving sundry tempting prizes.
