BURGLARY ALLEGED: TWO MEN CAUGHT.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 27. George Welch, 26, and Reginald Clarence Watson. 19, were captured by detectives in Nelson Street at eight o'clock last night, and are now in custody on a charge of breaking and entering the counting house of the Fletcher Construction Coy. with intent to committ a crime. The night watchman saw two men. one working on the door, and the other apparently keeping a look-out. He telephoned to the detective office. Four detectives responded. One arrested Welch and another captured Watson after a chase. Four holes had been bored in the door near a Vale lock. One of the men had in his pocket a length of fuse and a hacksaw. Gelignite and a chisel were found on ari embankment nearby. Between midnight on Monday and early on Tuesday mprning, a burglar or burglars removed goods valued at £2OO from R. A. Hughes’s Clothing and Mercery store in Dominion Road. They effected entry by the front door after having taken off a large padlock.
