TAKING FARES ON TRAMS OUT OF DATE.
To the Editor. Sir, —There is much in the suggestions and the criticism of your correspondent 4 Ratepayer" that should cause the Tramway Board to seriously review ’•.heir methods of management. The time has gone by for taking cash fares, he public should procure their tickets before hand, which they no doubt would readily do. if facilities were given to buy tickets. If the cash system was lisr on tin tied, only half the conductors would be required, and thei*e would be considerably less office work, and inspectors could be dispensed with. The public want a quick and cheap service, which undoubtedly the ticket system, suggested by your correspondent, would give, and with which no motor 'bus could compete.—l am, etc.. WELL WISH E R.
