COMPLAINTS ABOUT DUNEDIN BROADCAST.

TEMPORARY STATION CANNOT SERVE N.Z

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 28. At a meeting of the Broadcasting Advisory Board in answer to complaints about broadcasting by the Dunedin Exhibition station, VLDN, Sir James Parr said that it was not practicable with the temporary station to provide transmission that would serve all New Zealand, and, moreover, summer conditions were not conducive to good reception. Mr Salt expressed disagreement. Apart from the deficiency in volume, the general opinion was that the modulation was bad and was unanimously condemned. In consequence of the new transmitters not being likely to arrive till May, the Broadcasting Company was given an extension of time to June 30 for the erection of the first two stations. A proposal to remit part of the license fees by listeners-in fell through on the ground of no legal power to remit.
