NEWS IN BRIEF.
A London cablegram says that the West Australian Loan was undersubscribed and closed automatically. Both the Postmaster-General and the Director of Postal Services in Melbourne are sceptical regarding the cabled announcement that Canada is going to withdraw from the Pacific Cable Board. They state that nothing further has been beard since the Canadian protest against the dimplication was received in March last. Even if she did withdraw the only thing that would happen would he a readjustment of finances regarding Britain, Australia and New Zealand.
