ANNUAL MEETING. “Despite unwelcome influences ov->t which the committee had no control, th© past season was a. good on©. ami the membership now stands at 217.” stated the report of the tennis section «-'f the Edgeware Bowling:. i 'roquet, and Tennis Club, presented at. th© annual meeting: of the section last night. The financial position was satisfactory, th© report, continued, but it had to b© remembered that many monetary difficulties had. to be overcome. At. the beginning of th© season a. lari© amount was owing on the new cour’s, and the response to the appeal for subscriptions bad not brought, in the amount, expected. Many improvements had been ma.de to the surroundings of the courts, and thanks were due to Mr J. Young for liis assistance. The balanec-she—*. showed a. credit balance of £713 13s 7d. The chairman, Mr H. A. Jard»n, in moving th© adoption of the report, and balance-sheet, congratulated the commit tce on the season's operations. lie noted with pleasure the good financial position of the tennis section, and its bright prospects. In th© course of three years, assets to the extent <>f £1220 6s 3d had accrued. This was particularly gratifying to members and. a distinct credit to those who had been entrusted with the administration of the section's affairs. Mr H. A. Jarden was elected the section's nominee for the presidency of the club, and Mr R. Grant was elected as nomine© for the vice-presidency. Mr Walter Beanland was re-elected secretary for the ensuing year, and Mi A. Beanland was re-elected treasurer. Messrs J. Longton, XV. T>. Berry, and) TV. Beanland were appointed the section’s delegates to tho Lawn Tennis Association. The following were elected a. committee for the ensuing year: Mrs E. Uren, Misses E. G. Clark and IX TVinny, Messrs A. !.». Neate, SV. J. Berry. XV. Clothier, C. J. Uren, and A. P. Wilkie.
