The rooms were decorated with ferns, shrubs, and palms. There were several ncveltv dances. The blindfold foxtrot was won by Miss M. Carter and Air J. The interest taken in tho Karitane Hospital v.-as well demonstrated on Saturday afternoon by the large gathering present at the laying of tiio foundation stone of the Mothers’ Cottage. About iwo hundred people assembled in the pretty grounds ol‘ the hospital for the ceremony. Tho favourable weather added to tho success of the function. The fou was laid by Sir Heaton Rhodes, who in a 'brief speech referred to the work of tho hospital and its needs. The good work being done for the mothers and babies of Christchurch.
