OBITUARY.
JOHN L. BENNETTS. The death of Mr John L. Bennetts, late of thc Royal Navy, occurred recently at Newport, in England. He was born at Lyttelton in ISS3. r.nrl when he was nine years of age his family returned to England, settling at Pendeen, Cornwall. lie joined thc Roval Navv at thc age of fifteen, and in 1900 was awarded the Roval Humane Society’s vellum for saving a shipmate from drowning. Tie joined the. Royal Fleet Reserve in 1913. and served on lI.MS. Columbine and other shins during the Great War, until he was discharged in 1922. on medical grounds. lie then made his home at Newport. At the funeral the coffin was drawn on a Royal Ilorsc Artillery gun carriage. and the bearers were selected from the R.N.V.R. A representative body of thc British Legion was also present.
